“People used to ask if I thought about killing myself. The Invictus Games blew that away. Now they ask what my time is over 1,000 metres.”

Scott Meenagh, Invictus Games competitor and Paralympic champion

We change lives and save lives through the power of the Invictus Spirit.

Serious injury or illness will have physical, psychological and social effects.  For those serving in the Armed Forces, visible or non-visible injuries and illnesses, whether sustained during conflict or training, can bring about dramatic and sudden changes in careers or lifestyle, placing immense pressure on family and home life.

Through sport and adventure, the Invictus Games Foundation Inspires, Improves, and Influences the recovery and rehabilitation of a global community of wounded, injured, and sick (WIS) service personnel.

Born in 2014

The Invictus Games is a biennial, multinational adaptive sporting event.

Involving 23 nations,
and over
500 competitors

It is not all
about winning

For some, just getting to the start line is their gold medal

Reclaiming their
sense of belonging,
strength and purpose
is life changing

“I had many, many positive outcomes, the biggest one was how IGF gave me my family back.”

What we do beyond the games

‘We are Invictus’ – The only international WIS Community Platform

International and Domestic sport and esport challenges

Supporting family and friends

Sharing best practice

Research

To be selected to represent their country again at the Invictus Games can be life changing, but our work cannot stop there.

Opportunities

Beyond the Games, we strive to improve long-term physical and mental health

Enabling post traumatic growth through opportunities to take part in sport, esports and adventurous challenges.

Connecting

Reconnecting the WIS globally through our free community platform and app.

Understanding

By collecting and sharing best practice, we influence the research and understanding around trauma recovery, rehabilitation, and the power of sport, shifting attitudes towards life-changing illness, injury, and mental health.

The number of WIS taking part in our activities beyond the Games exceeds those who compete at the Games and this community continues to grow daily.

CHANGING LIVES,
SAVING LIVES

We know our work is making a difference. Recent evaluation from the global WIS community has shown that the Invictus Games Foundation has a transformative impact.

A snapshot of the “Beyond the Games” Programmes and our funding needs to support a global WIS Community:

With your help

Anyone who has been physically and/or psychologically injured in service to their country will have the opportunity to:

Enhance their recovery
and rehabilitation

by participating in sporting endeavours, and adventurous challenges.

Rebuild and strengthen
their family bonds and
friendship networks

as they find new purpose and meaning in life after injury.

Become part of a
WIS Community

that supports and celebrates them on their recovery pathway, improving their physical recovery and mental wellbeing.

Be honoured and respected
for their military service
and sacrifice.

“The most important outcome for our team was the magic of the Invictus family - its love, care, and support touched our hearts in a moment of great mental struggles.
Thus, as we have returned to service, we look with optimism into the future.”
